About

I built KERN because I was sick of the stigma.

I didn't come to Pilates looking for it. I came in with a lower-back injury from the gym — and it fixed what my training couldn't.

In the open, one class at a time

It started with a lower-back injury from the gym. I trained hard, but something underneath gave out — and it put me on the sidelines.

My physical therapist told me the problem wasn't how hard I trained. It was the small muscles underneath that were too weak to hold me up — the ones my program never touched — and that weakness was what caused the injury in the first place. She told me to try Pilates to build them back.

01 — The first classI was the only guy in the room.

So I walked into a Pilates class. I felt the stares. I was the only guy there, and what hit me wasn't that the work was easy — it was how little most men know about how good this actually is for them. The class was hard. It humbled me. And it started fixing the exact thing that put me on the bench.

02 — Why I built itI wanted the movements that carried over.

Most classes were all glutes and legs. I wanted the work that actually showed up in the rest of my life — the core, mobility, and upper-body movements that made my lifts stronger, my runs easier, and my back stop seizing. So I built the class I couldn't find: the missing layer, programmed for men. Not a replacement for the gym — the thing that makes the gym work.

03 — The stigmaIt was never really about Pilates.

The thing stopping most men isn't the movement. It's the fear of doing something outside the box — the backlash you imagine from friends, the way you think people will look at you when you're the only guy in the room. I've felt that exact fear. I'm learning to move anyway, and KERN is a room where you won't be the only one.

04 — Where I'm atI'm not a coach with twenty years in.

I'm 21, still in school, still figuring most of this out — so I won't pretend I've got it all worked out yet. What I am is someone who's lived the injury, felt the stares, and will be in the room with you doing the work. Hard work beats talent, and I'll out-work the doubt one class at a time. KERN is built and programmed for men — and if you train and you want this work, you're welcome in the room.

The thing stopping most people isn't skill — it's the fear of what everyone thinks when you do something different.
